AI Rewriter (Article Rewriter)
Rewrite an entire article, essay or passage in fresh wording with restructured sentences, while keeping the meaning and your chosen tone. Ideal for refreshing content, avoiding repetition and improving readability. Longer-form than a single-sentence paraphraser.

How to rewrite an article
- Paste the article, essay or passage into the box. A counter underneath shows how many of the 6,000 permitted characters (roughly 1,000 English words) you have used, and turns red once the paste is longer, because only the first 6,000 are sent.
- Choose a style. Standard keeps a neutral voice, Fluent smooths the flow, Formal raises the register, Simple shortens sentences and swaps hard words for plain ones.
- Click Rewrite. The request takes a few seconds and the full result appears in one go, since the reply is not streamed word by word.
- Read the rewritten text against your original, then press Copy to put it on your clipboard.
What the rewrite instruction asks the model to do
The browser never sends a prompt, only the task name, your text and the style you picked. On the server those are wrapped in a fixed instruction: rewrite the entire passage in fresh wording with restructured sentences, preserve the meaning, tone and language, keep the paragraph breaks, and do not summarise or add anything. The style adds one guiding sentence, for example 'Use simpler words and shorter sentences' for Simple.
Generation runs at a moderate temperature, so two rewrites of the same text will not be identical. If the first version keeps a phrase you wanted gone, run it again rather than editing around it.
One sentence, four styles
Every version in the table keeps three things: the delay, its cause, and the order of events. That is the test to apply to your own result. If a rewrite drops the cause or turns 'several bugs' into 'a bug', the meaning moved and you should run it again or fix that sentence by hand.
| Style | Typical rewrite | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | The update shipped late because testing turned up several bugs the team had to fix first. | Same register, new verbs, clause order kept |
| Fluent | Testing surfaced a handful of bugs, and fixing them before launch pushed the release back. | Cause now leads, smoother rhythm |
| Formal | The release of the update was delayed because testing identified several defects that required correction prior to launch. | Nominalised, 'bugs' became 'defects' |
| Simple | The update came out late. Testing found bugs, and the team fixed them before launch. | One sentence split into two, every word common |
Original: 'Our team released the update late because testing found several bugs that had to be fixed before launch.'
Size limits that affect long articles
For a 3,000-word article, rewrite it one section at a time: paste the text under each heading separately, keep the heading yourself, and reassemble. Languages that the model tokenises more heavily than English, such as Arabic, Hindi or Japanese, use more of the output budget per word, so split those texts into smaller pieces.
| Limit | Value | In practice |
|---|---|---|
| Input accepted | 6,000 characters | About 1,000 words of English; a longer paste turns the counter red and only the first 6,000 go through |
| Output cap | 2,000 tokens | About 1,500 English words, enough for a full rewrite of the maximum input |
| Requests | 12 per minute per IP address | Shared with every other AI tool on the site |
| Reply | One block, no streaming | Expect 5 to 20 seconds for a long passage |
Where the article goes while it is rewritten
Your text is posted to this site's /api/ai endpoint and forwarded to an open-weight language model hosted by Groq; the model name can change as Groq retires and adds models. We keep no copy of what you paste or what comes back. The result exists only in the page you are looking at and is gone once you navigate away or refresh. Groq processes the request under its own terms, so treat the tool as unsuitable for confidential drafts, unpublished legal text or anything under NDA.
Checking a rewrite before you use it
- Numbers, dates, names and quotations: compare each one against the source, because a rewrite can round a figure or reword a quote that should have stayed verbatim.
- Small words that carry meaning: 'few' and 'a few', 'can' and 'must', 'most' and 'many' are easy for a reworder to swap.
- Consistent terms: if your original calls something a 'subscription' throughout, make sure the rewrite has not alternated it with 'membership' and 'plan'.
- Formatting: paragraph breaks are kept by instruction, but Markdown links, bullet markers and bold text are not guaranteed to survive. Re-add them after pasting.
When another tool fits better
- A single sentence or a short paragraph: the Paraphrasing Tool is tuned for that and accepts up to 4,000 characters.
- You want it shorter, not different: the Text Summarizer keeps only your most important sentences and runs in the browser.
- You only want mistakes fixed: the Grammar Checker corrects spelling and punctuation without touching your wording.
- You want to change what the text says: that is editing, and no rewriter should do it for you.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the paraphrasing tool?
The Paraphrasing Tool is tuned for sentences and short text. The AI Rewriter handles longer passages and whole articles, keeping paragraph structure while rewording throughout.
Will it keep my meaning?
Yes. It rewords and restructures while preserving the original meaning, tone and language. It won't summarise or add content.
Is it free?
Yes, free with no account. Very frequent requests are briefly rate-limited.
Why did the rewrite stop in the middle of a sentence?
The output has a fixed token budget, and heavily tokenised languages or very long inputs can run into it. Split the text in half and rewrite each part separately.
Can I rewrite the same text twice to get a second version?
Yes. Each click produces a new rewrite, and because generation is not deterministic the two will differ. Keep the one that reads best, or combine sentences from both.
Does it keep headings and bullet lists?
Paragraph breaks are preserved. Lines that start with # or - are usually carried over but not always, so check lists and headings after pasting the result.
Will a rewritten article pass a plagiarism checker?
Rewording changes the surface text, not the ownership of the ideas. If the source is someone else's work, cite it. The tool is for refreshing your own writing, not for passing off another author's.
