Your photos are never uploaded
Most online image sites upload your file to their server, process it there, and hand back a download. Here the processing happens in your browser with the Canvas API, WebAssembly and on-device machine-learning models, so the original file stays on your device. The one exception worth knowing is that the first use of the background remover and text extractor downloads their model files, which are large; after that they work offline too.
Pick a tool by what you need to change
- File size — Image Compressor for quality-based compression, or the fixed targets (100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB) when a form states a limit; Batch Image Compressor for a folder at once.
- Format — WebP to JPG, JPG to WebP, PNG to WebP and HEIC to JPG for iPhone photos that Windows will not open.
- Dimensions — Image Resizer for any width and height, plus presets for passport photos, Instagram and WhatsApp; Dimension and DPI Checkers to see what a file already is.
- Privacy — Remove Image Metadata, Remove GPS Location and Blur Sensitive Information before posting a photo of a document or your home.
- Editing — Photo Editor for adjustments and filters, Background Remover for a transparent PNG, Image to Text (OCR) for a screenshot or a scan.
Quality, not just size
Compression here re-encodes the image at a quality level you choose or that the tool searches for to hit a target size; it never just crops or downsamples without telling you. Each tool page shows the before and after size and lets you compare visually before you download. For images with text or sharp edges, PNG or a high-quality WebP keeps them crisp; for photographs, JPG or WebP at 75–85% is usually indistinguishable from the original at a fraction of the size.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a file size limit?
There is no server, so there is no upload limit. The practical ceiling is your device's memory: a phone handles typical 12-megapixel photos comfortably, while a 100-megapixel scan may be slow or fail on low-end devices.
Do the tools work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in Safari and Chrome. HEIC to JPG ships its own decoder (a WebAssembly build of libheif), so it does not depend on the browser being able to open HEIC; the tool page lists the few variants it cannot handle.
Why does the Image Studio exist as well as the single tools?
Image Studio chains several steps (compress, resize, convert, rename, ZIP) across many files in one workspace. The single tools are faster when you have one file and one job.
