How this converter encodes WebP

The converter uses your browser's built-in WebP encoder at the quality you choose, which produces lossy WebP — including the transparency channel, which WebP supports in lossy mode just as PNG does. This is where the big savings come from: Google's own figures put lossless WebP at about 26% smaller than PNG, and lossy WebP of a screenshot or illustration is often much smaller still.

Because the result is lossy, look closely at thin lines and small lettering in the preview. If you see soft or ringing edges, raise the quality and convert again.
