How to generate captions for a post

  1. Describe the photo or post in a sentence or two. The counter under the box tracks a 1,000-character allowance and warns if you exceed it; the model cannot see the image, so the description is all it has.
  2. Choose the platform (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or LinkedIn) and a tone (Casual, Funny, Inspirational or Professional).
  3. Click Generate captions. Five options appear as a list a few seconds later.
  4. Press the copy icon beside the caption you want. Generate again for five more.

What each caption is built from

The instruction sent with your description asks for five distinct captions, each with a strong opening hook, an emoji or two only where it fits, and a light call to action where appropriate. The model returns a numbered list; the page strips the numbers and shows one entry per line with its own copy button. A caption that the model splits across two lines will therefore show up as two entries, which is worth knowing if one option looks like half a thought.

Captions are written in the language of your description, and generation runs at a high creativity setting, so a second click gives a genuinely new set rather than small variations.

One photo, four tones

These are illustrations of the register each tone produces, not fixed outputs. Funny leans on a specific detail from your description, so give it one; Inspirational works from the feeling, so name it; Professional assumes a work-adjacent audience and drops most emoji on its own.

CasualChased the sun up the trail and it let us win today 🌄
FunnyHiked six miles for this view. My legs have filed a formal complaint.
InspirationalThe best views come after the hardest climbs. Keep going.
ProfessionalGrateful for a team that shows up for the climb, not just the summit. Weekend reset complete.

How the platform setting shapes the result

PlatformWhat the model leans towardPractical note
InstagramHook in the first line, emoji welcome, a save or comment promptFeeds truncate after roughly 125 characters, so the hook has to land early
TikTokShort, punchy, often a question to drive commentsCaptions sit under the video; brevity wins
FacebookLonger, conversational, fewer emojiRoom for a full sentence or two of context
LinkedInFirst-person reflection, a takeaway, minimal emojiLine breaks between sentences read better in the feed

Writing a description that gets usable captions

  • Say what is in the frame and what it felt like: 'first batch of sourdough, slightly burnt crust, very proud' beats 'bread'.
  • If the post promotes something, name the product, the offer and the action you want, such as 'link in bio' or 'comment to enter'.
  • Mention people only if you want them named in the caption.
  • Add constraints in plain words: 'no emoji', 'under 15 words', 'include the word cosy'. The model follows them most of the time.
  • Write in the language you want the captions in.

Honest limits

  • It works from text alone. Upload is not possible, and nothing about your image is inferred.
  • The counter under the input measures what you type, not the captions that come back; for a strict platform limit, paste a caption into the Character Counter tool.
  • Occasionally the model returns four or six lines instead of five, or two captions that are close cousins. Run it again.
  • Your description is processed by an open-weight model on Groq's servers and is not retained by this site after the reply.
  • The five captions use one of the 12 AI requests permitted per minute from your address.

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms does it write for?

You can tailor captions for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn — pick the platform and the tone before generating.

Can I choose the style?

Yes. Choose casual, funny, inspirational or professional, and you'll get five distinct caption options to pick from.

Does it add hashtags?

Captions focus on the wording. For hashtags, use the dedicated Hashtag Generator and combine the two.

Is the caption generator free?

Yes, it's free with no account. Very frequent requests are briefly rate-limited to keep it fast for everyone.

Can I get captions with no emoji?

Yes. Add 'no emoji' to the end of your description and the model leaves them out. The Professional tone already uses very few.

Can I upload the photo instead of describing it?

No. The tool only sends text, so a two-sentence description of the image and the mood is what produces the captions.

Why did I get fewer than five captions?

The model sometimes returns a shorter list, or a blank line gets filtered out. Click Generate captions again; each run is independent.

Does it write captions in Spanish, Arabic or other languages?

Yes. Captions come back in whatever language the description is written in, including right-to-left scripts.
