Blur sensitive parts
Steps to blur part of an image
- Open your image in the tool above.
- Draw a box over each area you want to hide.
- The selected regions are pixelated so the detail can't be read.
- Download the redacted image.
Blur vs. covering with a box
Pixelating (blurring) destroys the underlying detail, which is safer than drawing a coloured box only when the box truly covers everything — but unlike a light blur, a heavy pixelation can't be reversed. For names, faces, card numbers and addresses, redact generously.
The image is processed on your device and never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Can a blurred area be un-blurred?
A heavy pixelation removes the detail and is effectively permanent on the exported image. A very light blur can sometimes be partly recovered, so blur strongly for anything sensitive.
Is it free and private?
Yes. It's free, needs no account, and the image never leaves your browser.
