How to build your resume

  1. Fill in your name, headline, email, phone, location and website or LinkedIn. Each field appears in the preview as you type.
  2. Write a two or three line professional summary and pick one of the six accent colours.
  3. Add each job with role, company, location, start and end, and one achievement per line. Press AI bullet points to have those lines rewritten as result-focused bullets.
  4. Add your education and a comma-separated skills list, then press Download PDF / Print and save as PDF.

What ends up on the page

Dates are free text, so 2022 to Present, Mar 2021 to Jun 2023 or just a year all work. A section with no entries is left out entirely, and an empty summary disappears rather than leaving a gap. Skills are split on commas, so a skill containing a comma becomes two chips.

How the AI bullet points work

The button sends whatever is in that job's bullet box, or the role and company if the box is empty, together with the role title to the site's AI endpoint. The prompt there asks for three to five one-line bullets that start with a past-tense action verb and quantify impact where plausible, in the same language as your input. The reply replaces the contents of the box, so copy any wording you want to keep before pressing it.

The request runs on open-weight models hosted by Groq on a free tier. Input is capped at 1,500 characters, each visitor is limited to 12 requests per minute, and when the free quota is exhausted you get a busy message rather than a letter of bullets. Because the model is encouraged to add numbers, it may suggest figures you never gave it. Replace any percentage or amount you cannot back up in an interview.

Saving as PDF, and why there is no Word export

Download PDF / Print opens the browser's print dialog with the form hidden, and Save as PDF produces the file. Page breaks follow the content, so a long history runs to two pages; there is no forced single page. The accent colour is used for text and borders, not backgrounds, so it prints even with background graphics turned off. The website line is plain text in the PDF, not a clickable link.

The builder does not produce DOCX. If an employer insists on Word, open the PDF in Word, or paste the text from the preview into a document.

Where the draft lives

  • The whole form is written to this browser's local storage after each change and read back when you return. Save only confirms it has happened.
  • It is not synced anywhere, so another browser, another device or a private window starts from the sample content. Clearing site data erases it.
  • There is one draft. To keep two versions, export each as PDF before editing.
  • The only text that leaves your device is what you send when you press the AI button.

What the template cannot do yet

  • One single-column layout; no two-column or photo variants.
  • Six accent colours: blue, teal, purple, crimson, navy and amber. No font choice.
  • No extra section types. Put certifications, projects or languages under Education with the issuer as the school, or list them in the summary or skills.
  • Entries cannot be dragged into a new order; remove and re-add to reorder.

Frequently asked questions

Is this resume builder really free?

Yes. You can build your resume, use the AI bullet-point helper, and download it as a PDF completely free — no account or sign-up required.

How do I save my resume as a PDF?

Click “Download PDF / Print” and choose “Save as PDF” as the destination. You'll get a clean PDF ready to send to employers — one page for most résumés, two if your experience runs long.

Is my resume data kept private?

Yes. Your resume is built entirely in your browser and saved only on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so your personal details stay private.

Can I download the resume as a Word document?

No, only as a PDF through the print dialog. Open the PDF in Word or Google Docs if you need an editable file.

Will the AI invent achievements?

It can. The prompt tells it to quantify impact where plausible, which sometimes means a made-up figure. Read every bullet and keep only claims you can prove.

How do I add certifications or projects?

There is no dedicated section. Add them as Education entries with the issuing body as the school, or mention them in the summary.

Why does my resume spill onto a second page?

The PDF follows the content length. Trim bullets to one line, shorten the summary or remove older jobs to pull it back to one page.
